Checklist
ID patient and test
For additional information and specific instructions, type the test ID# (on Labcorp slip) in the menu at https://www.labcorp/wps/portal/provider/testmenu
Invoice patient for testing
Reimbursed by us by account if national (otherwise, charge lab draw fee + individual lab)
Gather supplies
If the tube indicates:
GEL = Red/black ("tiger") top or cherry red top
LAV = Lavender EDTA tube
RED = Cherry red (For Quantiferon)
GOLD = Golden top (For Quantiferon)
Complete requisition slip
Complete venipuncture
22-24ga vacutainer needle and adapter
Label specimen
Do so in front of patient with sticker including date/time/initial
have patient sign req slip
Top white copy goes to lab
Second copy goes to patient or corporate account
Prepare specimen
GEL tubes sit undisturbed upright for 15min to coagulate
then centrifuge
LAV tubes not centrifuged
Send out
Notify Lapcorb for pickup, set out lockbox (if outdoor, place icepacks until picked up)
