PROCEDURE
- Check ID and test to be completed
- Inform patient, complete paperwork
- Ask patient if they are able to void - allow to drink water in office per protocol if necessary
- Gather supplies (ask patient to select test), escort patient to bathroom (patient may leave belongings on bathroom counter or in office depending on set-up)
- Inspect bathroom stall, drop in blueing tablet
- Instruct patient on procedure
- Once specimen has been delivered, patient may flush toilet and wash hands
- If negative, complete documentation and throw specimen out
- If presumptive positive, have patient sign requisition slip and prepare specimen for send out

REMEMBER!
-Allow patient to select drug screen kit
-Have patient wash hands PRIOR to providing specimen
-DO NOT date and initial label while on COS - wait until applied to specimen
-Patient must remain in view of urine at all times
-Patient can drink up to 40oz of fluid in 3 hours if unable to void the first time, but urine specimens cannot be combined (e.g., for insufficient quantity, patient must discard urine, select new kit and provide a second specimen after drinking fluids)
-Patient must remain in view during waiting period
-NEVER discuss results with patient, whether negative or presumptive positive
-If patient states they are on medication, DO NOT ask for information. Ask patient to maintain a note to remember what they were taking at the time of donation in case it warrants further review from the lab
-If the rapid screen does not read/has no control, etc., send to lab for confirmation with notation
-Secure the bathroom (limiting access to soap/water, cabinets, etc.)

FAILURE TO TEST SCENARIOS
- Refusing to comply (e.g., not emptying pockets, etc. Refusing to provide EE# or SSN# is NOT a refusal to test)
- Not providing sample after 40oz fluid/3 hours
- Note that tampering with specimen (specimen out of range, pH, etc.) should be sent to lab for confirmation with notation and NOT discarded
